Spend Your Time in the House of the Lord

Many of us know the scripture in 2 Timothy 1:7 that says, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self-discipline. I know this scripture, but I still spend way more time than I like to admit in that place of fear and timidity. Sometimes anxiety runs the show for me. Sometimes negativity has more influence over me than positivity. I spend too much time trying to analyze and understand “why.”

But then I read Psalm 127:1. “Unless the Lord builds the house, the work of the builders is wasted.” Of course. God doesn’t say not to work. Not at all. He modeled hard work! But we should work toward the things of God. We should work where we have God on our side.

Some of us spend more time working to understand confusion, or negativity, or fear than we spend on doing peaceful things, or loving things. Let this be a call to spend your time in the house of the Lord. Your work here will never be in vain!
